About Jill

Finding the right person to support your personal growth  & healing takes time.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider your options.

My Approach

I am an integrative therapist specializing in life transitions/sudden change accompanied by grief, loss, and trauma.  I work from a postmodern, collaborative approach, looking at systems and generational patterns to support clients in their wellness goals.  I incorporate expressive arts, narrative therapy, guided imagery, and spirituality into my practice.  I provide support that utilizes creative problem solving and intuition to promote balance in wellness.  I listen to your narrative and support you in finding your own wisdom.  I believe you already have what you need to make the changes you desire.

Who i Work With

I am here to support individuals and couples in search of a safe, comforting place to work on what is seeking change.  Many clients I collaborate with are working through a transition of some sort or are in search of lasting change, a sense of belonging, or renewal.  Many of my clients identify as creative types, nature lovers, outsiders, LGBTQ2+, multi-racial, and/or embrace cross-cultural identities.  I am not here to help you "fix" something but rather explore, redefine, or move with, what is no longer serving your experience of wellness.

Our Work Together
My approach starts with collaboration on the intention of our work together.  From there we begin to create awareness, access your strengths, and identify your resiliencies and gifts. By getting curious about the barriers or patterns that dim your light or dilute your flow, we can assess what isn't working for you and help you release grief.  We will also support any updates to your coping skills through engaging creativity, spirituality, and Earth connection.

In my personal and professional experience I have felt and witnessed the imbalance & stress from navigating socio-political systems that are rooted in colonial oppression.  While I cannot change the way society fuels toxic stressful messages and lifestyles, I can help you deconstruct these messages and reconnect to your Truth.  My practice is ultimately an offering to help clients reconnect the ways they experience distance and discover creative ways to manage stress.  While I have the training and credentials to diagnose and treat mental illness, I am not working with this model of treatment, and I encourage those seeking that type of care to consider if my approach is a fit for your needs.
Experience and Credentials
I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology with emphasis on the Expressive Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies.  I am a Licensed MFT with the state of California, as well as a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist through the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA). I have also completed 360 hours of training in Personal Energetics Management and have over 5 years of experience working with grief and trauma.

In 2019 I relocated to Michigan to welcome my daughter and have since continued building my private practice online.  In addition to my private practice I have the honor of teaching graduate students at the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco and Lesley University, Cambridge.

Since 2007 I have worked with  artists in a variety of roles from managing studio spaces to providing workshops.  In 2013, I began training as a grief counselor and worked as a school based clinician, leading me to work in community mental health as a therapist supporting Urban Native American youth and their families.  Since 2014 I have worked in private practice, as well as a tele-health provider in some capacity, in effort to meet the various needs of my clients.

Beyond the credentials, I am a mixed race, two-spirit femme, an artist, a writer, a mother, a partner, and I cannot remember a time when stars and the moon weren't on my mind.  I have dabbled in astrology my whole life and aim to align/realign my life with lunar rhythm.  I am an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and have mixed European heritage as well.  I was raised by Detroiters in the suburbs of Southeast Michigan.  I lived and worked in Oakland, California for 15 years.  I recently relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan where I continue my practice remotely from home.
